LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LAX)

TEMPORARY AIR TRAFFIC FLOW CHANGES

May 11, 2021

12 AM – 6:30 AM

The Federal Aviation Administration will conduct flight checks on May 11 to test the navigational equipment for the outboard runway 25L/07R on the south complex. These flight checks will require LAX to temporarily change the air traffic flow this Tuesday as follows.

LAX will be in Easterly Operations from 12 AM to 3:30 AM and then transition to Over-Ocean Operations from 3:30 AM to 6:30 AM if weather and operational conditions permit.

LAX normally operates in Over-Ocean Operations from 12 AM to 6:30 AM, wherein aircraft arrive and depart over the ocean to minimize noise disturbance to the communities directly east of the airport. However, this flight check activity requires the airport to temporarily change the usual nighttime traffic flow configuration. As a result, residents may notice changes in aircraft flight activity and associated noise during this time period.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this special circumstance.
