LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LAX)
SOUTH COMPLEX OUTBOARD RUNWAY 25L/7R CLOSURES
In addition to the long-term closure of Runway 24L/6R on the north complex, LAX will temporarily close Runway 25L/7R on the south complex to perform maintenance between 12:30 AM and 6:30 AM on the following dates:
- April 1 - 4, 2024, Monday to Thursday
- April 15 - 18, 2024, Monday to Thursday
- April 29 - May 2, 2024, Monday to Thursday
Whenever possible, the FAA transitions LAX air traffic flow to Over-Ocean Operations from 12 AM to 6:30 AM, wherein aircraft arrive and depart over the ocean to minimize noise disturbance to the communities directly east of the airport.
Due to limited runway availability, the closure of Runway 25L/7R usually requires a delay in commencing Over-Ocean Operations to allow any Design Group VI aircraft to operate prior to commencing this traffic flow as these large aircraft primarily use Runways 25L and 24L.
Since the duration of Over-Ocean Operations is already temporarily shortened to the 1:30 AM to 5:30 AM timeframe resulting from the long-term closure of Runway 24L, no additional delay of this traffic flow is anticipated during these dates. Airlines operating these aircraft are to plan their operations accordingly. A delay of closing Runway 25L may occur to accommodate any late departures of Group VI aircraft.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during this temporary situation.
