LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (LAX)

NORTH COMPLEX INBOARD RUNWAY 24L/6R CLOSURE

March 6, 2024 to July 18, 2024

135-Day Closure

Starting Wednesday March 6, 2024, LAX will close inboard runway 24L/6R on the north runway complex to construct new taxiway exits and complete asphalt overlay as part of the North Airfield Exit Taxiways Project.  Runway 24L/6R will close continuously for 135 days from March 6th to July 18th.

Persons living near LAX may notice a change in aircraft flight activity and noise during the closure of Runway 24L/6R as more aircraft are expected to use the north outboard runway (24R/6L) for departure and arrival operations.  In addition, some aircraft operations may shift from the north to the south runway complex.

The FAA plans to conduct Over-Ocean Operations on a shortened duration between 1:30 AM and 5:30 AM rather than the usual 12 AM to 6:30 AM timeframe as the work areas will require closing certain taxiways in addition to Runway 24L/6R during the first 60 days (March 6th to May 6th) of this closure. This combination of runway and taxiway closures on the north complex will greatly limit aircraft ground movement and require LAX to operate this nighttime traffic flow on a shorter duration.

Thank you for your understanding and patience during this extended closure.
